Overview:

The restraint of older people is a pressing issue in health and social care practices. This course provides health, and social care professionals, with an authoritative reading resource on the ethics and use of restraints. This book provides an overview of different forms of restraints, and the conditions under which they are used, and their implications for the health and well-being of older people. Practical alternatives to restraint are then explored, underlining the importance of person-centered care.

These in-depth online courses will help health and social care professionals better understand the complex issues that surround the use of restraint, support practice that puts older people at the center of decision making about their care, and enable services to provide safer and more appropriate care.
